Do Electric Longboards Have Brakes?

After being involved with electric longboards for a while now, one of the questions that people keep asking is "how do you stop" or "I wouldn't ride something without brakes!". People assume an electric longboard is just a regular board that has a motor attached on it. That however is not the case. Yes, electric longboards have brakes. Some of the more advanced boards actually use the braking force to recharge the internal batteries just like an electric car does. They are designed in such a way that they have a transmission with gears. The rider will hold a wireless remote to control the speed and brakes on the board. The brakes do not work like how they do on a standard bike, the board will slowly stop the rider until further physical stoping power is provided by the rider with their shoe. This skill takes some time to master but throw on some protective padding and start practicing today!
